Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and Foot pain

Research

The most common cause of foot or heel pain is plantar fasciitis. Improper foot biomechanics can cause abnormal foot pronation. During weight bearing, the bony relationship between the talus and calcaneus is compromised resulting in bio-mechanical and functional abnormality. The increased stress and tension can cause the condition to worsen.  Plantar fasciitis is common among runners, athletes, and people with obesity. Common complaints include pain localized to the heel or calcaneus bone when walking.

Foot pain can result from trauma, sports injury, overuse, poor foot or structural support, or misalignment of foot and ankle bones from trauma. Our Chiropractic physicians on Staff may x-ray the foot to determine the best method of treatment. The treatment will attempt to solve the cause of the problem using foot and ankle adjustments (manipulations), and/or cold laser therapy.

Treatment for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis

Our Clinic approach to therapy is to provide long term pain relief from plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, or foot pain. Our physicians prescribe a treatment plan which uses a variety of procedures and techniques to help the patient. The therapy can help patients avoid cortisone injections which may only be temporary, and avoid the unnecessary risk of surgery. The goal of our approach to your foot or ankle problem is to reduce pain, improve the structural integrity, enhance mobility and function.

Treatment may include the following:

  • Foot and ankle adjustments
  • Cold laser therapy
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • KT Taping
  • Graston Technique
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Myofascial release techniques
  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Ergonomic advice
  • Home exercises

Cold laser has provided excellent results for our patients suffering from ankle, foot, achilles tendonitis, or plantar fasciitis. Laser therapy helps decrease pain and inflammation, speed up healing, increase blood circulation, and improve function.
