We are equipped with the diagnostic machine to perform non-invasive nerve testing of the sensory fibers of the spinal nerves. This allows our Staff physicians to combine the physical exam, radiographic X-Ray exam with the nerve testing to specifically localize the specific spinal nerves that may be either inflamed, swollen, compressed or pinched.
The patient is taken to a private quiet nerve testing room and the test is performed. Since the test Is non-invasive, it usually only takes 15-20 minutes. The test is painless and non-invasive without the need for deep penetrating needles as with an EMG. Our nerve testing reveals the location of the nerve problem, severity and type of involvement, whether the nerve is inflamed or pinched, The Doctor will then review the results with the patient on their next visit and explain the nerve findings and their significance.
After nerve testing and getting the clinical results, the treating doctors have a more concise understanding of the underlying nerve involvement. The treatment program and therapy techniques may be altered to help repair the damaged nerves identified by the sensory nerve testing.
